Cable Franchise Fees
What is very much on the mind of those of us who are public access TV advocates is the proposed re-write of the 1996 Cable Act. It is our fear that the telecom lobby would attempt to do away with the franchise fees that they are currently required to pay cities and towns in exchange for the use of our public rights of way. I am attaching a letter I wrote to our congressman, as well as a short resolution that was passed by the Cambridge City Council on May 9, 2005.
