Grant and Support Programs

Government Funding Programs

  • Department of Agriculture - Rural Community Development Initiative provides a program of technical assistance to recipients to develop or increase their capacity to undertake projects in the areas of housing, community facilities, and community and economic development in rural areas.
  • Department of Education - The Community Technology Center Grant program funds local community technology centers that demonstrate the educational value of technology in urban, rural and economically distressed communities.
  • Department of Health & Human Services - Community Services Block Grant.  States must submit an application for funds. The application requires an annual or biannual plan. The following 13 assurances must be adhered to in the formulation of the plan.
  • FirstGov - The first ever government Web site to provide the public with easy, one-stop access to all online U.S. Federal Government resources.
  • National Telecommunications and Information Administration - The Technology Opportunities Program  provides matching grants to improve public access to education, health care, public safety, and other community-based services.
  • Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS): IMLS grant programs fund projects that promote literacy, provide free public access to the Internet, train individuals to use computers effectively and provide educational content on the Web.
  • Texas Commission on the Arts provides a comprehensive grants program for arts and arts-related organizations. (Texas only)

 

Corporate Funding Agencies

  • Annie E. Casey Foundation - The Casey Foundation makes grants, funds demonstrations, provides services and disseminates data and analyses aimed at helping states, cities, and neighborhoods support children and families.
  • AOL/Time Warner Foundation - AOLTWF supports programs that use the Internet to improve the lives of families, children and the disadvantaged.
  • AT&T Foundation - This Foundation invests in education, civic and community service, and the arts in communities where AT&T has a significant business presence.
  • BellSouth Foundation - This Foundation funds education reform activities in the Southeast that will have an impact on a substantial number of students in school systems or post-secondary institutions, or across communities, states or regions.
  • Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation - The Gates Foundation assists public libraries in ensuring community access to the Internet, and training library personnel in the use of emerging communications technologies.
  • California Wellness Foundation - CWF provides grants for organizations dedicated to improving community health. (California only)
  • Cisco Foundation - provide grants to organizations with long-lasting, local or global impact. They make these grants in communities in which Cisco Systems, Inc. has a significant business presence.
  • IBM Philanthropy Grants and Fund for Community Service - Teaming for Technology is working with social service agencies in communities across the US to help enhance their competency in technology to better deliver services, manage costs, and maximize their effectiveness
  • Intel Education - The Intel Foundation provides grants to support science, math and technical education, improve the effective utilization of technology in classroom teaching, and increase the number of people, especially women and minorities, pursuing technical careers.
  • Kellogg Foundation's Managing Information with Rural America - A grant to help people in rural communities determine how technology can be used to address economic development, education, health and leadership.
  • MarcoPolo - This collaboration of MCI and major education institutions, provides innovative standards-based curricula to teachers. They also support a grant program targeted at school districts.
  • Markle Foundation - The Foundation has three active program areas: Policy for a Networked Society, Interactive Media for Children, and Information Technologies for Better Health. They also maintain an Opportunity Fund, but we do not accept unsolicited proposals for this fund,
  • Microsoft Giving - Microsoft Giving is focused on creating greater access to information technology in disadvantaged communities worldwide. This is accomplished through the support of higher education, youth programs, nonprofit technology solutions, public libraries and the creative community.
  • National Cristina Foundation - This group provides computer technology and training for people with disabilities, students at risk and economically disadvantaged persons.
  • SBC Foundation - The SBC Foundation supports education, community economic development, health and human services and the cultural and arts arenas.
